A brief history of The Johns Trophy
2025 marks the 91st anniversary of the Johns Cup which had its inaugural match in 1934.
Frank Johns brought the trophy for Clara Johns as a wedding anniversary gift.
Clara was the founder of the English Women's Bowling Association and asked husband Frank for a trophy as a gift, as she wanted something for the women to be able to play for.
Surrey were the initial victors and having won the Competition over 22 times, remain the most successful County in winning the Johns Trophy.
