1975 YEARBOOK
Take a trip down memory lane, as we reflect on the records of the year.
Highlights
Before the quarter final tie with Yorkshire at Nottingham, county bowlers had been given a great incentive to win the Middleton Cup fot the first time since the 1930's.
The attractive win bonus being dangled before them was a trip to Johannesburg, South Africa to see the World Bowls Championships in February 1976. If the county won the cup, their 24 man team would make the all expenses paid journey as guests of County President Bob Stapleton, and Stapleton was confident his team would produce the form to make him fulfill his promise.
"I've a strange feeling that this is going to be our year"
The County lost the Quarter Final by twelve shots!
AGM 13th December - Mr Fred Mason said that George Wlls had won the Charles Mason (champion of champions) Cup for the third time in 1975, and under the Rules of the competition had, therefore, won it outrght.
Members of his family purchased another Cup in anticipation of this, but as it had now been possible to purchase the original cup from the winner, the original cup would again be offered for competition exactly as before, and the new cup would be held in trust against future needs.
