1979 YEARBOOK
Take a trip down memory lane, as we reflect on the records of the year.
Highlights
The new county two wood tourament sponsored by the Northants Evening Telegraph set the bowling world alight at the weekend - more than 300 bowlers entered the two day event. Within minutes of the tournament starting it was announced that it would now become a permanent fixture in the county calendar.
At the NBA Council meeting at Kettering Cons in March, when the tournament was given the go-ahead, doubts were expressed about its popularity but these were quietly dispelled.
It was so successful County Secretary George Wills who did an excellent job with his area secretaries in getting the competition off the ground said "There will be twice as many entries next year"
